Period & Period Style Furniture
Mealy’s are renowned internationally for their expertise in Irish, English and Continental Furniture from the 17th century right through to the 20th century, especially Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian Period pieces.

Miscellaneous Decorative Arts
This broad department handles a wide variety of ornamental and functional items, made from metals like brass, bronze, pewter, and copper, or from other materials such as Alabaster, Ivory, Marble, Ormulu, Terracotta, Wood and Textiles.

Rare Books, Manuscripts, Maps and Prints
This department handles a wide variety of Rare and Interesting Books of Irish & General Interest, Fine Bindings, sets of Periodicals, Maps, Scrap Albums, Anglo-Irish Literature, Signed Copies and Limited Editions, Special Press Books, Local and other Historical Works, Topographical Items, Irish republican Items, Art & Architectural Reference Books Travel books; Irish Language Books, Children’s Books and a myriad of other miscellaneous rare books and related items.

Silver & Silver Plateware
This department handles items made from Silver and Silver Plate such as Baskets, Bowls, Boxes, Candlesticks, Casters, Cups, Cutlery, Ewers, Flatware, Inkstands, Jugs, kettles, Pots, Silver Services, Tureens and other miscellaneous items.

 

Paintings & Watercolours
This department handles Contemporary Art, Frames, 19th Century European Pictures, 20th Century British Art, Impressionist & Modern Art, Irish Art, Marine Pictures, Old Master Paintings, Prints, Scottish Pictures, Victorian Pictures and Watercolours.

Arms and Militaria
This department handles armour, headdress, uniform, daggers and knives, pistols, powder flasks, shotguns, revolvers, rifles, swords, medals & orders, and other related items.

Ceramics & Glass
Ceramics
This department handles English, Continental and Oriental ceramics from the 18th, 19th and 20th century. It includes Pottery and Porcelain Bottles, Busts, Figures, Flatware, Jardinières, Jugs, Mugs, Tankards, Tea & Coffee Pots, Tiles, Tureens, Vases, Bowls, Candlesticks, Centrepieces, Cottages & Pastille Burners, Ewers, Toilet Sets, and Dinner and Tea Services.

Glass
This department handles all varieties of collectible glass, such as art glass Vases, Bowls, Decanters & Stoppers, Drinking Glasses, Epergnes, Ewers, Flasks, Jugs, Lighting, Paperweights, and other art glass products from all the popular periods of glass-making, such as Victorian Glass, Art Nouveau Glass, Art Deco Glass, and contemporary/studio art glass from Scandinavia.

Clocks, Watches and Other Timepieces
This department handles Bracket Clocks, Carriage Clocks, Garnitures, Longcase Clocks, Mantel Clocks, Portico Clocks, Skeleton Clocks, Table Clocks, Wall Clocks, Vienna Regulators, Pocket Watches, Wrist Watches, Watch Stands and other miscellaneous items. Barometers, Barographs and Scientific Instruments also fall under the ambit of this department.

 

Irish History Memorabilia
This department handles all memorabilia that relates to Irish History. Mealy’s are leaders in this field and since 2006 have been hosting an auction series known as Independence (in association with Adam’s)  that focuses on items relating to the 1798 rebellion, the 1916 rising, and other important landmarks in Irish History.

Private Collections & Important Archives
It is not uncommon for private individuals to assemble large impressive collections of anything from Contemporary Art to Fishing Reels. Mealy’s have been privileged to celebrate the collections of many dedicated collectors in such sales as the Murnaghan Collection, the Ronald McDonnell Collection and the Goldberg Collection, not to mention various Rare Book Collections.

Specialised Collectibles
This department handles all manner of specialised collectibles. Almost anything can be classed as a collectible, but certain items have traditionally fallen under this heading such as Coins, Philately and Postal History memorabila, Railway History memorabilia, Postcards, Commemorative Medals, Posters, Brochures, Tickets, Photographs, Cigarette Cards, Bank Notes, Commercial Bill heads, Race Cards, Toys, Dolls, Teddy Bears, celebrity memorabilia, to name but a few.

Sporting Memorabilia
This department handles memorabilia relating to all sports, particularly G.A.A., Fishing, Cricket, Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Cycling, Motor Sports, Hunting, Racing, Polo, Rowing and Boxing. Highlights for this department include the sale of the Brendan Brennan Collection of G.A.A. memorabilia and The David Sheney Sporting Collection.

Wine
Mealy’s hold sales of Vintage Wines, Ports and Spirits annually. These sales usually involve an executor sale for a deceased wine collector, and can contain some very fine rare cases and bottles.
